Will the Pandemic Ever End?


I don't consider myself to be a conspiracy theorist, but I am often suspicious of the Left.  Almost to the point that I can be easily convinced of nefarious cabals trying to take over the world.  As such, I rarely take their claims at face value.  Largely because it often lacks logic and makes little sense. Racism is whatever the Left says it is on any given day to give them an advantage.  Strangely, it's remedy is to see the color of one's skin as the most important characteristic of their identity and care little about their character. Transphobia is when anyone has the audacity to question some of the potential negative issues associated with it.  Misogyny is when men make more money than women, but not when one wants to erase the sanctity of being a woman.  Illogical indeed!

Covid and the pandemic has me thinking that this is not much to do with public health but more to do with the one of Left's favorite pass times: sanctimoniously imploring others to submit to their moral and intellectual authority so they can tell us what to think and how to live. I find it strange how Fauci and his disciples in the media cannot allow the idea that the pandemic is nearing its end, or that we can return to pre-2020 life. Their reluctance to let go of mandates that have no scientific basis makes me thinks is not about a pandemic.

More likely it is the Lefts need to have an issue to fight.  And that is the deal...liberals need to have enemies, oppression, and injustices. When they don't have them, they lack purpose and meaning. As such they often have to invent them. These narratives are their sustenance. Without them, they lose opportunities to lecture the knuckle draggers in red states or those crazy Christians who believe in something not sanctioned by science...

I am scared we will never return to our old normal. The pandemic has opened doors for eager politicians and elite media types who have an appetite for influence, control, and power. Crises are that which the Left hates to let go to waste, and more often created out of thin air.  Their constituents are motivated by fear and willing to sacrifice your liberty for an appearance of security and safety.

With the vaccines now in large scale distribution and  our knowledge of who is especially vulnerable, along with our understanding of treatments, there is little need for restrictive health mandates. If you or loved one are a high risk category, fearful of sickness, or just want to do what you have been told, then get a vaccine, stay home, and wear your mask. Let the rest of us start living.

Social Media's Threat to our Culture

The news of Donald Trump getting banned by Twitter has reverberated all across the various media outlets and internet ether.  It has created interesting discussions and arguments regarding the freedom of speech along with growing concerns of the ability of so few to control so much (I won't get into that here...maybe later). The decision to ban Trump for his role in inciting an insurrection was followed by Apple's and Amazon's suspension of Parler on similar grounds.  To many on the Left, these are largely applauded and welcome actions.  Conversely, many on the right see this as an existential threat to democracy.  To be fair, there are also many who cast a weary eye towards such actions, but think this particular case was warranted.   Regardless of where you stand on the banning of Trump and the suspension Parler, those incidents reveal a deeper, much more complicated issue regarding the role social media plays in our democracy and culture.  In the ea...

The Truth About the Transgender Narrative

I have recently sat through a number of local school board meetings and have left fascinated, confused, and depressed.  What was once a really boring and often little attended affair, school board meetings have now become Jerry Springer episodes.  Crowds filled with anger and vitriol and armed with propaganda of their social media echo chamber are storming these meetings with torches and pitchforks, ready to burn it down.  The issue?  Broadly speaking, LGBTQ.  But much of it revolves around the “T” in that acronym.  And that is where much of my fascination lies.  The transgender movement, to me, has moved at a speed and with a magnitude I have never seen before.
